Common Questions

How is Mobile Ears different from just turning up my volume?
Unlike simply increasing volume (which amplifies everything), Mobile Ears intelligently enhances speech based on your hearing loss while reducing background noise, creating a more focused and comfortable listening experience.
Do I need special earphones?
While the app works with any earphones, we provide premium calibrated earphones with your subscription for optimal performance.
Why can't I hear the person I'm talking to clearly?
For optimal voice pickup, position your iPhone with the charging cable side pointing toward the person speaking and place the phone as close to them as possible. This improves the microphone's ability to capture their voice clearly, especially in noisy environments. The phone’s microphone works best when directly facing and near the sound source you want to focus on. In group settings, try placing your phone in the center of the table or closer to the person you most want to hear.
I'm using bone conduction headphones and experiencing echo and sound latency when watching TV. How can I fix this?
When using open-ear bone conduction headphones with Mobile Ears, try this effective combination: adjust your app to the "Male 100 years" setting and use regular earplugs alongside your bone conduction headphones. Setting the age to 100 might sound extreme, but our algorithm provides increased amplification with higher age profiles, giving you access to maximum amplification. The earplugs are necessary to create a closed system that prevents amplified sound from being lost and blocks competing background noise, while you still receive enhanced sound through bone conduction. This eliminates the echo problem while preserving all amplification benefits.
I need more amplification than I'm currently getting. Is there a way to increase it?
Yes! Try adjusting your profile to the "Male 100 years" setting in the app. While this might seem unusual, our algorithm is specifically tuned to provide maximum amplification at higher age profiles. This setting gives you access to the full range of amplification available in Mobile Ears. You can then fine-tune with the sliders to find your perfect balance of speech enhancement and noise filtering.
Can Mobile Ears replace my hearing aid?
Mobile Ears is an excellent complementary solution for mild to moderate hearing challenges. Many users rely on it when their hearing aids have run out of battery, are lost, or are being repaired or simply need a break from the hearing aid. While it's not designed to completely replace prescribed medical devices for severe hearing loss, some users actually prefer Mobile Ears in certain noisy environments where our AI noise filter may work better than their hearing aids.
